Brief of activities :

These are mobile medical teams that carry out regular visits in every month in isolated 69 communities in Shyamnagar Upazilla, Satkhira. They consist of one paramedic and one organizer supported by the Friendship’s Community Medic-Aides, who are residents in each community. Their two main roles are to inform communities about hygiene and nutrition and to provide basic treatment and medicines. We have provided an average of 48000 health services every month this year.

Brief of activities :

Friendship focuses its efforts on helping the char inhabitants in areas prone to natural disasters. We also support local government and community-based institutions to improve conditions and accelerate the rehabilitation process. At Satkhira, Friendship has formed 10 Friendship Disaster management committees (FDMC) and Secondary Beneficiaries group. Here every month 10 meetings are held with FDMC Group for awareness buildup about disaster.  For disaster risk reduction Friendship arranged 10 Training on Income Generating Activities as alternative Livelihood; 10 Training on CIDRR & CCA for Beneficiaries; 05 Training on Education on Emergency for SMC, Teachers and Staff (EIE); 05 Training with CPP Volunteers (South), 10 Training on Wash Drown Prevention & Tools for Beneficiaries; 05 Govt. primary School infrastructural repaired and 10 set Rescue, repair material, First aid kit distribution at 10 FDMC via 04 Union Parishad.

Project Name : Prevention and Screening Innovation Project Towards Elimination of Cervical Cancer

To raise the awarenes of community people about cervical cancer and provide health education for prevention the cervical cancer. Conduct examination of cervical Cancer screening by our Friendship Medic Aides and provide report by SMS. If the test report is positive then FCM councelled them for VIA test. After via test if the doctor find it positive then he will refer the client to Governemnt health facilities for better treatment.

Brief of activities :

Fishing in the Bay of Bengal is a hazardous occupation. Extreme climatic conditions can damage and destroy boats and equipment and can place livelihoods and lives at risk. Business is unstable because income depends on the fluctuating prices of fish in the market. Fishermen have been forced over generations to turn to local moneylenders for help and become trapped in permanent debts, as their income is insufficient to repay the high interest charges and loan capital. With the help of strong community involvement, we strive to liberate fishermen and their families from their debts to moneylenders, and to help create opportunities for them to generate a fair income.

Brief of activities :

Friendship has developed a clean, environment friendly and low-cost solar panel that powers a lighting system. It is adapted to suit the needs of the char dwellers and is designed to replace the kerosene lamp, which is the traditional source of lighting in the rural areas of Bangladesh. The kerosene lamp is inefficient, unhealthy in closed spaces and unsafe since it is a dangerous source of fire. Friendship’s Solar Home System operates at the same cost to the user as the kerosene lamp and brings with it other advantages that greatly improve their standard of living. Friendship has distributed 138 solar systems in shyamnagar coastal areas.
