Basic Informations

SHISHU SASTHYA FOUNDATION, BANGLADESH (SSF,B) is a non profit, non government voluntary development organization. It was established in January 1983 by group of social workers, headed by National Professor Dr M R Khan, an internationally reputed Child Health Specialist. Since inception, the Foundation has been serving the underprivileged community both in urban and rural Bangladesh, aimed to reduce the morbidity and mortality of mothers and child population.

The SSF,B is registered with the following Registration and Licensing Authorities:

Vision

A society where no child remains unhealthy so that they attain their full potential in health and development.

Mission

Improvement of child health and nutrition through providing health and nutrition, water supply and sanitation, education including vocational, environmental promotion and protection services and support for income generation activities.

Objectives

  1. To develop the human resource in community development, health and nutrition;
  2. To reduce morbidity and mortality of the mothers and child population;
  3. To eradicate literacy among the women and older children;
  4. To develop vocational skills among the working children;
  5. To uplift the socio-economic status of the landless, assetless and marginal families with special attention to the women-folk;
  6. To promote and protect environment;
  7. To conduct research on health and nutrition;

  1. HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

  • Training of the Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics
  • Training of the Underprivileged women-folk in small scale income generating activities
  • Arsenic free water supply using Sono filters at house-hold level

MCH Clinic Services:

  • Health and nutrition education;
  • Treatment to sick mothers and children with provision of free distribution of essential medicines;
  • Growth monitoring;
  • Check-up of pregnant mothers;
  • Referral Services

 

Door to Door services:

  • Health and nutrition education
  • Nutritional assessment
  • Check-up of Pregnant Mothers.
  • Distribution of vitamin A capsules, anti worm medicines, Iron & Folic Acid, ORS etc.
  • Management of common ailments
  • Referral services.

 

Kitchen Gardening Programme:

  • Distribution of seeds and saplings of Vitamin A rich vegetables and fruits twice in a year among the poor families.

Water and Sanitation Programme:

  • Arsenic free water supply through providing sonofilters at house hold level

  • Primary education during evening hours for working children
