Satkhira Unnayan Sangstha (SUS)

Basic Informations

The genesis of Satkhira Unnayan Sangstha (SUS) goes back to 1982, when a group of like-minded seven village youngest people under the leadership of Sk. Eman Ali got together and organized into a “Gata”. Gata is a traditional rural social system in the locality for exchanging works without any cash payment to meet the individual needs in the farmland for better labour strength and outputs. Unity, cooperation, frankness, fellow feeling, friendliness, peace & happiness flourished among them and they got the fruit of social & economic development. The idea of forming similar type of groups in the adjacent villages peeped in the mind Mr. Ali after observing the distressed situation of women/windows/divorced women, poverty, injustices, hunger and hardship of marginalized people. The process continued successfully for seven years for this Gata to give up the crawling period in order to evolve as an organization as named Satkhira Unnayan Sangstha (SUS) and have a complete structure in 1989. So, 1989 is the commemorating year for SUS when it got its flaming spirit of youth to go forward to new horizon multi-dimensional development initiatives for the rural marginalized people.

Satkhira Unnayan Sangstha (SUS) is a non-government, non-profitable & non-political but social voluntary development organization established in 1982 and got its structure in 1989 envisaging mitigating the multidimensional sufferings of less fortunate, have not marginalized & distressed people with and emphasis on women and to setting up a society flourished with the happiness & justice.
